WHO WE ARE
We are a St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands-based steel orchestra with nearly 30 members ranging in age from 6 to 70. We practice twice a week under a tent at Estate Susannaberg under the instruction of Ikema Dyer, learning current and classic soca and reggae hits, with some pop songs and Ikema originals added to the mix.
Love City Pan Dragons is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and we rely solely on grants, donations, and the hard work of our board of directors. If you'd like to support us, please donate here!
We've got a long, rich history on our home island. The band started out in 1996 as the Ghost Riders Youth Steel Orchestra, borne out of teen drug and pregnancy prevention after-school program. Over the years, we've played regularly at community events including holidays, arts festivals, and more.
The band has performed on all three U.S. Virgin Islands as well as in the British Virgin Islands and Antigua, and the band has traveled to Trinidad, the birth place of the steel pan.
Over the years, we've remained dedicated to our mission to provide a healthy positive extracurricular cultural experience for St. John students from elementary through high school; to enhance the educational experience of Virgin Islands young people by promoting qualities and skills through the learning and performance of steel band music that will assist them in their everyday scholastic settings; and to serve as a cultural force in the Virgin Islands community.
